Hi! I'm Katherine Maulden, CSW
Outside of the therapy room, you can usually find me knitting, reading a good book, or walking my dogs. These simple joys help keep me grounded and remind me of the beauty in everyday moments—something I hope to help my clients reconnect with, too. Brené Brown’s words—“We cannot selectively numb emotions—when we numb the painful emotions, we also numb the positive emotions”—deeply resonate with me. I believe that embracing the full range of our emotional experiences is key to living authentically and connecting meaningfully with others. In therapy, I strive to create a safe space where clients can explore both the painful and the joyful parts of life without judgment. - Katherine

Katherine's Purpose Statement: Unveiling His "Why" as a Therapist
Becoming a therapist was not a decision I made lightly—it was the result of a lifelong journey shaped by personal experience, reflection, and resilience. From a young age, I witnessed the complex ways mental health can shape our relationships, our choices, and our sense of self. Over time, these experiences sparked a deep curiosity and compassion within me. I wanted to understand not just how we heal, but what allows us to grow stronger through adversity. Becoming a therapist has allowed me to transform my own challenges into a source of purpose, helping others navigate their own paths with clarity, empathy, and hope.

A Behind-the-Scenes Look at my Experience as a Therapist
I am passionate about using solution-focused therapy because it fosters a hopeful and empowering environment where clients can build on their existing strengths and resources. By emphasizing what is working well and focusing on practical solutions, I help clients move forward with confidence and clarity. I find it incredibly rewarding to witness small successes early in therapy, as these moments often spark motivation and momentum toward lasting change. My approach is flexible and tailored to each individual’s unique needs, and I value the collaborative relationship that forms when clients and I work together to discover effective strategies for growth and healing. -Katherine Maulden, CSW

A Memorable Success Story
One of the most meaningful experiences in my journey as a therapist was working with a client who came to me feeling overwhelmed by anxiety and consumed by self-doubt. I remember how heavy their burden felt—like a constant weight pressing down on their everyday life. Together, we created a safe space where they could explore not just their symptoms, but the deeper fears and past experiences that fueled their anxiety. It was incredible to witness their courage as they learned to face these feelings rather than avoid them, slowly building tools like mindfulness and self-compassion along the way. The transformation wasn’t quick or easy, but it was profound. Over time, they began to reclaim a sense of peace and confidence, reconnecting with themselves and those around them in ways they hadn’t thought possible. Being part of that journey—watching someone step into their own strength and hope—reminds me every day why this work matters so deeply. - Katherine
Maintaining Balance: How I Prioritize Well-Being to Serve Clients, Myself, and My Family
I'm lucky to be owned by two dogs, Molly and Buddy, who keep life entertaining and full of joy (and dog hair). In my free time, you'll usually find me throwing tennis balls, laughing with friends, or happily tangled in yarn as I work on my latest knitting project. -Katherine, CSW
